Just like in previous years, we want the children, our little missionaries, to prepare as well as possible for the celebration of World Mission Day, which falls on October 20!
Therefore, this year we are introducing the beloved calendar for children, Mission October 2024. We want to motivate little missionaries to make greater efforts to help, to think of others at home, but also in mission lands, etc. In the calendar, they will find tasks related to the missionary activities of the Pope's Missionary Work of Children (Mission Candy, Mission Fair). The calendar can be used for work with children in Mission Clubs, for religious education, in families, and various communities. Parents, catechists, and leaders of Mission Clubs can adjust the individual tasks for the children according to their age, the frequency of meetings, and available time. You can invite other children to creative activities and do them together. It only depends on you how you will use the calendar. The author of the calendar is our artist Tomáš Velzel.
This year's Mission Sunday is guided by the motto from the book of Acts of the Apostles: Go and invite everyone to the feast (cf. Mt 22:9).
From the message of Pope Francis for World Mission Day: "The mission to bring the Gospel to every creature must necessarily have the same style as that of the one we proclaim. If they proclaim to the world the 'beauty of God's saving love revealed in Jesus Christ, who died and rose from the dead' (Apostolic Exhortation Evangelii gaudium, 36), let the disciples-missionaries do so joyfully, generously, and with the kindness that is the fruit of the Holy Spirit in them (cf. Gal 5:22)….”
From the letter of the national director of PMD Leoš Halbrštát for Mission Sunday 2024: "Let us also ask today for Mary's maternal intercession for the evangelizing mission of Christ's disciples. With the joy and care of our Mother, with the strength of tenderness and love, let us walk and bring to everyone the invitation of the King, the Savior."
We look forward to your photographs of how children work with the calendar and complete assigned tasks!
We wish you much joy with the calendar!
